Tour description

Discover the very best of tropical Far North Queensland on this six-day escape to Palm Cove — a peaceful coastal haven framed by palm-lined beaches, gentle sea breezes and the vibrant colours of the tropics. Your journey begins with a visit to Cairns’ lively Rusty’s Markets before settling into your beautiful Palm Cove retreat, perfectly positioned for both relaxation and exploration. From here, you’ll travel deep into the rainforest aboard the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway, then glide above the canopy on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway for sweeping views of waterfalls, mountains and lush treetops. A full day on the Great Barrier Reef brings the chance to snorkel, learn from an onboard marine biologist or simply unwind on the pontoon while admiring the dazzling marine life that makes this region so extraordinary.

The adventure continues along the stunning Coral Coast with a Daintree River wildlife cruise, a visit to the iconic Mossman Gorge, and free time to enjoy the charm of Port Douglas. Travelling into the Atherton Tablelands, you’ll discover volcanic crater lakes, towering fig trees and delicious local flavours, including tastings at Gallo Dairyland and a serene High Tea overlooking Lake Barrine. Evenings offer time to relax in Palm Cove’s gentle ambience, with wonderful meals shared by the water and a special farewell dinner to celebrate the journey. Beautifully balanced and thoughtfully paced, this tour captures the essence of Far North Queensland — warm, welcoming and full of unforgettable moments.

Testimonials

Just a note of thanks for the excellent job Hans did yesterday. All of our group had a wonderful day and the Camden Valley Inn was a great venue. The staff there were very efficient and the meal portions just right for all. A most enjoyable day and thanks again. We did have one poor soul sleep in and so we numbered 37. Looking forward to our next tour with On Course in July.

Jim

Thank you for another great Oncourse tour. I have lost count of the number I’ve done. Good to see that over 20 years they’ve continued the high standards. Many thanks to Peter for his great work.
